unrestful stop
I took off the next morning against a moderate headwind, and it was slow going. Rain continued to threaten and I stopped under an overpass to let a squall pass, then again at a rest stop.
As I sat on the covered picnic table at the rest stop, watching the cars come and go, I realized that if you arrive in a vehicle, a “rest stop” is actually a misnomer. Seated in a car, THAT’S when you’re resting. Once you stop and get out to do something, you’re no longer resting.
But, I suppose, no one would pull over if it was named an Unrestful Stop.
