Stuebenville, OH to Cadiz, OH:
Starting the day with a "Flying Nun"
While packing the tandem in front of the hotel I saw a nun running down the road so fast she was (apologies to Sally Fields) nearly flying. High gusty winds proved to be our nemesis today. Also, I don’t want to ever hear again about how flat Ohio is. We spent hours grinding up hills in first gear and had to settle for only making it to Cadiz. The next hotel was in Cambridge 40 hilly miles into a headwind away and by 2 pm we knew we were running short of time and energy.

Eight miles west of Stuebenville we saw our first of five USBSR signs.
While it was somewhat reassuring to know we were on the correct route in only one case was it placed where a directional decision had to be made. That was where a 1 mile bicycle path had been constructed because cyclists were not permitted on Rt. 22.
Today's ride: 26 miles (42 km)
Total: 70 miles (113 km)
