Cadiz, OH to Cambridge, OH:
83 degrees but "Warm Showers" just hit the spot
We’ve struggled to find hotel accommodations along USBRS 50 in mileages we wish to cycle each day. We decided to divert our route slightly to the southwest ending in Cambridge. We anticipated we would be riding again on Rt 22, in most areas a two lane road and sharing pavement with trucks building pipelines in the area. However after a few miles Google maps diverted us onto a sometimes dirt and many times steep rural road.

We shunted back onto Rt 22 which for some reason was again labeled USBSR 50, not as I researched on my computer when planning this tour. Pipeline related truck traffic far exceeded car traffic. Once a convoy of fifteen Halliburton labeled tractor trailers passed us. I’m sure the drivers envied us grinding our way up the hills in 1st gear at 3 mph. However, at that speed you can easily stop to see interesting bits of Americana.

Now the Warm Showers part. Rhona and I have hosted touring bicycle riders in our home for several years as Warm Showers hosts but for some reason were never guests on our own tours. That changed today as we stayed with Craig and Pam. Craig is an experienced cycle tourist who recently cycled across the US. After a delicious meal and fascinating conversation he sat down at the computer to map out significant changes for our tour. More about that tomorrow. Right now I hear some of Pam’s cookies calling me.
Today's ride: 47 miles (76 km)
Total: 117 miles (188 km)
