The Start of a New Romance: Day 65 - Hanging Out in Salzburg
Another sunny fall day, and a nice place to spend it. Having said that, it was a Wednesday in the middle of October, and there are still a LOT of tourists here (us included). For that, I'm very glad we are here now and not in July or August.
It was good to have a day off the bikes and give the legs a walk, and climb, Salzburg is pretty hilly.
We saw some of the main sights and took in another classical concert (Cello and piano duo playing in the Schlosskirche Mirabell). We also mapped out a rough plan for the last bit of our trip.
We've got three weeks until our flight home leaves Frankfurt, and it's a good one week ride from here to there. We kicked around ideas for filling in two extra weeks, and only came up with about one weeks worth, so we called AC and changed our flights to Oct 24, one week earlier.
We're both pretty happy with that decision. It will be three months since we left Canmore and we would sooner finish our ride leaving something on the plate rather than stringing out a week of riding that we might not be that motivated for.
So tomorrow we start heading west towards "The Romantic Route" ... another long distance German cycling route that runs from Bavaria to the Main river just east of Frankfurt. It is supposed to be one of the most beautiful and popular routes in Germany. Stay tuned for our report!

Saw these guys live in Calgary last year about this time. Great song that came on as I was blogging away tonight! And they made this youtube vid in a phone booth in Berlin! (more or less)
Here's the cellist. I don't remember his name but he was a young guy (early 20's) from 10 km down the road at Hallein (we cycled through there yesterday)
