We decided to take a tour of the old houses of Dijon. Mary Ellen and I were the only people who signed up. Our guide suggested that the tour could be a combination of the city tour and the houses tour. We learned so much about Dijon on the tour. This was a private home in Dijon. This was one of the first houses built out of stone

Erected for Jean Maillard , mayor of Dijon in 1560. This house has an amazing Renaissance front heavily decorated with many features. It is basically a catalogue of all of types of building art that the famous architect, carpenter and builder, Hugues Sambin was able to offer customers.

The clock tower on Notre Dame. The clock was war loot in 1382 from Belgium. At that time, there was only one figure- Jacquemart. In the 17th century, people felt that Jacquemart needed a wife, so in 1651, Jacqueline was added. Later, they were given two children.

Built in the 13th century, Notre Dame has three rows of false gargolyes. One of the gargoyles fell and killed a man. All of the gargoyles were taken down. It wasn't until 1880 that these false gargoyles were added.
