Mulhouse to Basel, Switzerland
Enjoyed a final visit with Sabine, Christian and Thore. They shared their perspective on our route ahead as they have ridden quite a bit of it. We are beginning to see that the train may be a good option for some of the journey. It seems like the Rhine route from Basel to Lake Konstanz may not be the best use of our time as our priority is to get to the Danube. They spoke highly of the beauty of Lake Konstanz and of the availability of cycle routes in the area.
The bird life along the river today is very interesting - swans followed by their young families, storks, eagles, hawks. We even saw a miniature hummingbird like bird (about 1/3 a h’s size) - fascinating.
The first flat tire of the trip - we notice an odd sound and oh yes, one of the trailer tires had given up.
