Exploring Ulm

It rained heavily through the night and Mary Ellen is catching a cold, so we are going to give ourselves another night here. There is so much to explore and Mary Ellen would like a day of rest.
Our breakfast was very good. The woman who managed the guesthouse has made it very homey, with fresh flowers, art, books and lots of colour.
Wed and Sat are market day - we were pleased to look out the window this morning and see the square in front of the cathedral full of stalls.
Barry went exploring and ME had a good sleep.
The Cathedral is quite a special place. Barry climbed the 763 steps to the top of the steeple and enjoyed an incredible view. You would think that after riding 2000 km, his legs would be tired, but no - he rose to the challenge.
We noticed a food van with continual long line ups at the market. We had currywurst here and it was incredible. The best yet.
The internet here is proving to be a challenge. In France, we had internet at most campsites and accomodation and McDonald's. Here in Germany, wifi has not caught on. We are presently sitting in the only hotspot in Ulm. A few hotels have it, but very few.

This man approached Barry when he saw our Canadian flag. He bought us a beer and shared many stories about the area.

Ulm has statues of sparrows throughout the city.

This building is in the old part of the city in the Fisher quarter. It is built right in the water and is now a hotel.

The bratwurst van is going home - note the VIP (very important pig) in the window.
