Dijon is an amazing city. We decided to stay an extra day because there is so much to see and do. Dijon did not recieve damage during the war,so the city's historical buildings are in good condition.
The Tower of Philippe the Good dominates the town at a height of 46 metres. Erected in the middle of the 15th century it, symbolizes the prestige and power of the Dukes of Burgandy. It was also helpful to keep watch out for fires in the city.
The palace was constructed by Phillipe the Bold in 1366 and enlarged by other dukes. The classic reconstuction of the palace began in the 17th century by Jules Hardouin Mansart, the architect of Versailles. It now houses the town hall and the Fine Arts Museum
Our very, very old hotel. The entrance and inner courtyard are very charming. It evokes an atmosphere and images of what it would have been centuries ago.
