Awoke to breakfast delivered to our room - croissants, baguette, jam, cheese, yogurt, coffee and orange juice. I am used to Barry preparing breakfast at camp, but I think he really enjoyed a day off! This is our first day off the bike - a rest day - but I think we will make up for it with walking. We’re off to explore Caen and visit the esteemed Le Memorial Caen. It offers a comprehensive history of the war and because of its ultimate focus on human rights and the maintenance of peace, it won a Noble Peace Prize. It stands on the bunker of W Richter, the German general who on June 6 faced the Canadian/British forces. The Memorial was an amazing museum - spent 3 hours touring. A good day.
Visiting Le Memoriel de Caen - an impressive museum dealing with the war and need for peace.
The streets and bar cafes are packed with people enjoying the good weather. Except for in big cities, we rarely see people locked in to their cell phones or devices. Most people socialize in a way that is changing at home.
