Lancaster - The seventh step ... London to Edinburgh via Land's End and John o'Groats - CycleBlaze

Lancaster

Another rather uneventful day in which we slowly made progress on our journey northwards.  After a nice downhill followed by a few small bumps, most of the day's ride was pretty flat and easy with only the afternoon's headwind to bother us.  As yesterday, it was a mixture of small lanes, cycle paths and busy A roads.

We passed through Preston, the only large tow on our route, after a short stop for snacks in South Ribble.  Preston lies on the northern side of the Ribble River and I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty it was .  Soon after crossing the Ribble we passed through a very pretty park  before joining the A6 to Garstang.

Lunch was somewhere south of Garstang and Leigh enjoyed her first plate of fish and chips of the trip.

After buying the days groceries in Garstang we headed for a campsite just south-west of Lancaster.  Ashton Hall Caravan Park is quiet and secluded and with the sun shining down on us we have enjoyed a relaxing late afternoon.

Today's ride: 54 km (34 miles)
Total: 1,347 km (836 miles)
