Port Stanley, ON to Blenheim, ON
Day 13 - Talbot Trail
Cloudy and humid, head wind
Got up early and left Jim’s lawn by 7 am. and rode down to the beach and ate our breakfast of bagels purchased across the street at the Circle K.
We left town at 7:30 a.m. and rode out on Hwy 20. Cameron got chased by a loose dog and I have never seen him bike faster.
We arrived in Wallacetown at 9:30 a.m. for our second breakfast. Stopped in at the Tall Tails Café and had another excellent breakfast.
Met John the owner who gave us some plastic bags for Cameron’s shoes as rain looked imminent. John also advised that we would willing take campers in behind his café. I will pass this on to the ACA.

We left the café about 10:30 and headed into the wind riding the Talbot Trial. We would ride this straight road for most of the day until it turned about 2 miles from Blenheim.
We stopped briefly at Eagle where there was a fruit stand selling raspberries.
We rode through New Glasgow which had a store, although on the ACA map it said no services. Same again in Palmyra where we stopped and bought a drink and ate lunch from our bags.
We passed many farms today, some with some old grand farmhouses and others where the original family home had been abandoned for a new one. Can’t say I blame them as the old house were probably not well insulated and cold in the harsh winters.
We arrived in Blenheim about 3 p.m. and had earlier decided to get a motel as rain was in the forecast. We may even have a rest day here tomorrow.
We checked into the Silver Motel, had a shower then a nap.
Later we rode into town for dinner. We asked around and got directed to Venus de Milo restaurant. I had the fish which was a bit expensive for what they served. 4 pieces of fish, peas and mashed potatoes from a box.
Today's ride: 56 miles (90 km)
Total: 562 miles (904 km)
