The Rocking Chair
We have examples of cyclists who are lots older than us and still going around Europe at full steam. Take for example Tricia and Ken Graham and Maun and David Alston. Still, as we approach 70 we are beginning to wonder when we will have to replace our camping chairs out in the bush with rocking chairs out on the porch.
Well it seems the camping equipment industry has seen us coming. As we nipped down to Seattle this past weekend, we naturally had to drop in to R.E.I., the "mothership" of American outdoor suppliers. We drooled over shiny new bike helmets, tandem WeeHoos, and the like. Eventually we only bought a skull cap to protect Steve's bald spot under the helmet. But we were excited to see not one but two models of rocking chair, set out for us:
It's kind of a laugh, because if we are weak enough to be ending up in the rocking chair we are surely too weak to be carrying it with us. It's a thought, though!
