Introduction and Preparations: Time for a spring warm-up ride

We're heading out on a short tour part way down the coast of central Florida and back. This ride has a few objectives.....(1) get back into touring shape, (2) enjoy nature and some nice springtime weather (3) cycle 50-mile days on loaded bicycles, (4) go watch a spring training baseball game, (5) use tablet for journal updates, and (6) provide John with a chance to try out my Trek 520 in anticipation of buying one for himself. Fortunately we take the same frame size so this will be a great test ride for him. I'll be riding my Trek 7.2FX hybrid this time.
Original plan:
Our plan is to leave Port Orange tomorrow morning, 3/19/2012, and camp that night at Manatee Hammock Campground in Brevard County. Tuesday night we'll be staying in base lodging at Patrick Air Force Base. Wednesday is the baseball game -- Braves vs Nationals. Thursday we start back north, camping at Manatee again, then return to Port Orange on Friday.
Modified plan:
First night in Titusville. Second nights third nights in Melbourne. Fourth night TBD.
Overall trip will be less than 200 miles. We're anxious to get back out touring, however brief.

I was out the door at 7:30 this morning for the five hour drive down to Kim's house. There, we spent the entire afternoon in bicycle preparation and gear packing. Then we justified a pig-out meal at Leahn's Chinese Restaurant as "carbo loading". Why do we stuff ourselves like that?
The whole idea behind this short training ride is to introduce me to Kim's Trek 520 bicycle. That's the model of touring bicycle that I want to buy, as I sit on an income tax refund that is burning a hole in my pocket.
Yet, you just can't hate minor league baseball in small ballparks on a nice spring day. That's an added bonus with this training ride.
