As if the Barretts hadn't done enough already, they started this morning off with buckwheat pancakes. Mmmmmmm. After packing, Kim and I got our usual late morning start. We pedaled a backroad route that Gary reccommended to get to Michigan State Highway 28 east, and from there we totally jammed to Newberry, taking advantage of the tailwinds to go 17.5 mph.
In Newberry, we both ate "wet burritoes" at the downtown Falls Motel, a classic piece of work listed on the National Registry of Historic buildings. Then we hit the local IGA to restock our provisions. We headed north out of Newberry on M123 and later pulled over in the North Country Campground, where we snagged a beautiful, shaded spot.

Kim and I are going to become veeeeery familiar with M123 over the course of the next few days! After showers and starting a fire, everything was perfect until a classic summer thunderstorm rumbled through for about ten minutes. Hmmmmm . . . this is going to change everything tomorrow morning.
Today's ride: 25 miles (40 km)
Total: 600 miles (966 km)
