Drive to Seattle...Seaside, CA-Seattle, WA
Monday morning we were up early to pick up the rental car early and hoped to be on the road by 9AM. What is it about 'best made plans'? We rented a midsize thinking the bikes could fit in the back seat w/o wheels and all would be good. They did fit eventually good thing Jack was a packer/shipper in his previous life. We finally were loaded including the cats that are going to 'summer camp' in Oakland with our son Josh and his partner Kathy....thanks so much to them for taking this on!We finally got on the road at 10:48AM.....we only made it to Gilroy before our first stop! Palmer has always suffered from motion sickness! Yep...he hurled and messed himself. His poor sister Laura started yelling really loud to let us know he just messed on the both of them! We got them cleaned up and took off for Oakland. We made it there let them get settled in and were back on the road by 1:30PM. We drove until 9PM and stopped in Rosenburg, Oregon.
Tuesday we were up and out early driving straight to Seattle. We arrived before rush hour found a nice reasonably priced hotel Sixth Avenue Inn right down town (they allowed our bikes in the room-theRoselevelt suggested by our son Matt did not). We unloaded returned the car with only two days rental! We walked to the Pike Street Market and on the way back found this great restaurant for dinner-Queen City Grill. The salmon and risotto were some of the best we have ever had.Today we did a check out ride with the bikes. Good thing Jack's had an issue.....the free wheel would not engage (transmission issues). He figured out the problem ....fixed it and we were able to ride to the ferry terminal and back. It is a less than 2 mi ride from the hotel however there are three really steep blocks of down!!! thought I was in San Francisco with all these hills! We are taking the 8:30AM ferry to Bremerton in the morning and riding to Shelton about 44 miles. Here are some photos from the last two days:Mt Shasta

Seattle addendum....:
We went to the Queen City Grill again tonight for dinner. The food is just wonderful and very nice wine selection. The owner even bought us desert....something he wanted us to try. Their version of a banana split. OMG good!! Caramelized banana with ice-cream and fresh strawberries with just a little chocolate drizzle! WOW perfect. He also owns the Frontier Room next door.
If we were going to be in town another day we would be there. The building has been tavern/bar since the 1890's except for probation.
