Day 8 - 53 miles Tillamook,OR to Lincoln City, OR. Devils Lake State Park
Today should not have been as nice a ride as it was! We started out in a heavy drizzle...very nearly a rain! The first several miles were pretty wet then it was just fog then drizzle again...you get the picture. It made for fast riding. We had some of the best shoulders we have had so far!!! Smooth, clean and fast.
We were routed off 101 hwy at Sand Lake Road. It turned out to be a great country ride so nice to be off 101! Then after 15 mi or so we were back on 101 with all the cars again until just past Neskowin and we were again directed off 101. This time onto Old Hwy 101Road. This turned out to be the best ride of the trip so far. It was through a National Forest for 10 mi..... 6 up and 4 down. The up was about 800ft climb but it was so gradual and beautiful you hardly notice until the last mile up. That left a nice down with a few rolling miles into Lincoln City.....the sun came out about half way up the hill and stayed out until just a minute ago. The most sun in days! All in all a really nice ride. Leaving Tillamook
