Day 20 & 21 79 miles Eureka, CA to Garberville, CA
Hello again...we seem to be in an area where we can only get phone/Internet signal every few days. We are chugging along and today it was a real chug!! Jack and I both hit the wall and decided we may need a day off. We shall see - may feel better after our Epsom Salt Bath!!Day 20- 46- miles Eureka, CA to Redcrest, CA The first 38 miles of this ride were on Hwy 101 with constant traffic! There was not much to see after we left the town of Eureka. There we saw some really wonderful murals (pictures to follow), found a co-op grocery store that was great and headed out of town. At mile 38 we started The Avenue of The Giants Redwood Forest. This was much more scenic and much more quiet. We rode into Redcrest and camped at a private camp ground and shared the cost with Catherine. Our little Surlyville is still in tact for now. We were sorry to leave Jimmy and La Shelle in Eureka. Day 21- 33 miles Redcrest, CA to Garberville, CA.
Ok.....this was day 21 straight and it must have hit us both about the same time (right at the first hill) we or at least our legs are spent! They need a rest. We were to go 44mi to Richardson Grove State Park but we bailed at mile 33. We are currently resting and just seeing how we will feel after a good hot bath and Epsom soak. Today's ride was an easy down through the Redwoods for about 28mi then we hit the sun, hills and Hwy 101 and we were DONE! We decided to call it a day early am sure we will be back out on the road after a good rest and meal....Catherine is continuing on to Richardson Grove we may catch her in a day or two as she may rest tomorrow. Would be nice to go over the dreaded Leggett together! We know it will be here in a couple of days 2,000ft climb!!! Leaving Eureka KOA
