Idyllic Day
Totally Unepic
If there’s a scale of epicness, then todays’ ride was almost off the spectrum at the unepic end.
Ride conditions were close to perfect. Ideal temperature, windless, almost zero vehicles, road gradient was slightly undulating and the road was almost perfect except for 2 km of unsealed surface.
Best of all was the scenery. It was a mix of grazing country, forest, rivers and heathland. The only concern were extensive patches of bushfire damage which looks as if it’ll take many years to recover.
The ride began in Braidwood at about 8.30am and finished in the hamlet of Nerriga at about 2.30pm. So it was a very easy day with lots of photo stops and a long morning tea stop. I could have pushed on toward the coast 65 km away, but there is no rush. The beach will still be there tomorrow.
Again the bird life was abundant as was the sounds of frogs in water ways.
Nerriga has a few houses, and a small pub which only opens a few days a week. There’s a camping area behind the pub and a couple of cabins. I opted for a cabin. Very comfortable compared to my 1 person tent.
