Resting in Motobu for a few days - Six Wheels Through Japan and South Korea Part 3 - CycleBlaze

Resting in Motobu for a few days

We are in our happy place here on Churaumi Beach.   We have a great view of the sea, a miles long coral sand beach with volcanic rock formations, local fishermen who come in the morning to leave their nets in the sea anchored to the shore, lots of bird life plus the ferry and ship traffic on the water. We like our small apt which has everything we could possibly need and more. Glad we booked for 3 nights.

The view from our balcony is keeping us entertained. A good place for coffee in the morning.

One of the local fishermen who comes to the beach in the morning. He is like a lone heron. He stands and watches the water and throws his net and gathers up his catch.

This is where we are staying. We love the beach with its beautiful combination of soft sand and coral.

The fishermen come throughout the day to check their nets.

Really liked this photo. The clouds have a lot character and the volcanic rocks seem to be on the move, going out to sea. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, it is what I see.

The cormorants are in residence through the day…drying their wings or just hanging out. The bird droppings suggests that this is their permanent daily spot.

We both love to wander on the beach. It is full of things to see and appreciate. The coral is amazing.

We find that the rocks have so much personality and character.

Stepping gingerly…we love the coral but it can be painful to walk on.

The lush sprawl of vegetation taking over the cliffs reminds us we are in the tropics.

We like where we are staying…an unassuming yet comfortable place.

It can be a challenge to look up when exploring a beach….I might miss that perfect shell. It feels great to let your feet sink into the soft sand.

Nature’s beauty surrounds us.

This piece of coral could be imagined to be a skull with the mouth a bit off centre. We looked at this piece and saw different things.

Some of these will come home with us. I have collected shells from the South Pacific, Asia and Mexico. These will join their international counterparts.

Nature is lush here and covers whatever it can.

Blue glass is a very popular craft here. This is a small sign at the entrance for our hotel.

We wonder if these really work. You know that you are in Okinawa when the local Daiso store has snake and centipede repellent.Daiso is an amazing store. If you need it, you will find it here…housewares, stationary, tools, bedding, clothing etc. Smaller items are often not priced as it usually will cost 105¥ ($1 Cdn). We have struggled in the past to find a roll of bubble wrap for wrapping our trikes when we fly. We have discovered that Daiso has it!

Out for a ride and to do some shopping for food. We like the coloured tiles they use for sidewalks in this area.

Love this image of the beautiful aquamarine sea framed by a palm tree. One can’t be stressed when surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of this scene.

Our apt has a fully equipped kitchen and eating area which makes self catering a joy. We also have a cosy nook with a couch and TV (5 Japanese channels). Note the square corner runner on the floor. This is for the sliding front wall of our bedroom. The wall completely opens to give you an all encompassing view from bed. I can’t shake the respiratory bug I have and spent some time in bed the first day. It was quite pleasant to rest here.

Forgot to mention…being on the road a long time, laundry can become a bit of a chore. Not here though, each unit has free laundry facilities. We washed everything we have with us.

Highly recommend this spot…close to a Conbini, a nice ride to town and the view is always here. A nice home away from home.

We combined our time  at Churaumi on the Beach into one page.  Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Our trikes were given a place inside the lobby and under cover. 5 stars for that.
