Had a quiet day relaxing at EM Wellness Hotel. A morning visit to the Onsen, a bike ride and dinner at the restaurant we loved at Aeon Mall. It has been a gift to have the opportunity to relax and enjoy where we are at this point in our trip. The majority of the days while travelling for 3 months, we are on the go moving on to a new destination.
Barry and I aren’t big shoppers or fans of spending a lot time in a mall. However, this one is interesting. It is considered to be one of the best malls in Okinawa with a huge cinema, massive 4 walled aquarium, lots of comfy common areas, a place for local teams to come and play. Shopping is just one component. We like that they have Shisas on display throughout. There are several of these outside around the perimeter of the mall.
When we were here a few days ago, this area was used for young kids to come up and meet life size cartoon characters. It was also for parents to take a special holiday photo of their kids. Today, it is a place for local basketball clubs to play.
The restaurant did not disappoint on our second visit. Our meals were excellent.
I had pork with a special savoury sauce, silver rice, pumpkin salad, green salad and pickled veg, and of course, miso soup. The Japanese excel at chicken and pork cooked in a batter or crust. The meat is so juicy and the coating is just right and never greasy.
Barry had a delicious meal. Salt grilled chicken, five grain rice, soy milk tofu, miso soup and Warabi Mochi. The top right is a one person hotpot flavoured with dashi and soy milk. Tofu is the main ingredient with plenty of vegetables and served either plum meat sauce. Warabi Mochi is a sweet dessert made with potato starch and covered with toasted sweet soybean flour.
