Day 2 BBQ @Marina’s country home

Today I did a longer ride in the Piano E Lantano (slower longer) group.  All groups no matter how long or fast they ride ended up at Marina’s country house for her famous BBQ lunch.  We started out earlier than originally planned because rain was supposed to arrive at 3PM, which it did.  The guide also had to make a few adjustments because of road closures resulting from the flooding last week.  Nonetheless we had a great ride to Verucchio with coffee in a neighbouring town because the planned coffee shop was closed.  Once at Marina’s home we had an amazing BBQ lunch after which we had a 13% climb, not ideal.  We made it back before the rain.  I went within a few other Canadians to pay our respects at the Coriano Ridge cemetery from WWII where 427 Canadians are buried.

The riding plan for the week as published but I hope they add a couple more Piano E Lantano rides because I don’t think I am up to the Explorer level anymore.

We stopped for a short visit at a monastery to St Francis. The many point was to see and 800 year old cypress tree that used to twice as tall until it was struck by lightning. The left side to the tree is very dead but the right is alive, The tree still needs to be supported.
