Day 10 Sligo to Donegal

Today was another beautiful day along the Wild Atlantic Way. We are getting close to the end of the trip but everyone is still riding well and getting along. It was an 87km day including my little ride on the beach at our lunch stop where we had a picnic lunch. As usual I went for a walk before breakfast in Sligo and discovered a few interesting facts. Tonight we are in Donegal Town which differentiates it from County Donegal. For the first time all tour I actually rode in shorts and a short sleeve jersey with no underlayer.

Donegal Castle was built by Red Hugh O’Donnell in the 15th century. I was destroyed but refurbish by the Irish heritage society.

A monument to 4 Franciscan monks who complied the Annals of the Four Masters. The document is the genealogy and succession of Clan Chieftains, important poets and historians. It was written between 1630-1636.

Donegal town is celebrating its 550 years in 2024, makes Canada look like a baby.
