Friday Aug 29: Istanbul
This was another day to sightsee in the city. We hired a tour guide, 80 year old Mustafa (aka 'Pres'), who guided us through both Aya Sofya and Topkapi Palace. The places were splendid, the guide was kind of rushed and over priced. However, he was very entertaining.
When the heat began to get unbearable (mid 30's) we stopped for lunch - the food is really good, especially if you like lamb. Vegetarians would be alright here, but why miss the lamb??
A surprise once it was dark was to see the Blue Mosque at its evening light show. We had no idea what was being said, but the lights brightened and dimmed to the narrating and music. I got a few choice pics - what a creative eye!
