Background to this Ride

First of all I'm thrilled to have discovered this website and all the great work that went into creating it.  I decided to inaugurate my journals here with a ride through my favorite part of the world:  Thailand.

Unfortunately, the ride didn't go as planned as the title indicates.  There was a turning point midway in the trip, despite the setbacks, when I could have changed the course of my future.   Read on to find more about that and what actually happened.

The highlights (lowlights) of the tour  involved getting my phone and passport jacked near the Thai/Cambodia border as well as an attempted theft of the touring bike I use:  the Montague Paratrooper Pro which is is a full sized mountain bike that folds.

This is it right here, the Paratrooper Pro. Someone tried to jack it but for whatever reason they were deterred and left it two blocks away.

Steve Miller/GrampiesYou are very welcome here in this lovely inclusive community. So sorry to hear of your difficulties earlier this summer, and here is hoping it goes better and better from here moving forward. The Grampies

Scott AndersonGreat to have you here, and excited to follow along. And our sympathies about your travails - we’ve lost passports ourselves before and have some sense of how disruptive that can be. Better miles ahead!
