What I take

I usually load my bike with two large rear panniers and two smaller front panniers – all Ortlieb. I also have an Ortlieb handlebar bag that desperately needs replacing but I'll squuze one more ride from it. In the back of my diary, I write what’s in each pannier. This makes it very easy to pack for the next trip but also enables me to find that item that I rarely if ever use – spare glue, bike pump, spare tube, etc. A little bit of code helps me to find concealed items (passport, cash). I have deciphered this in my previous blog "Unfinished Business".
That's what I usually do but because this trip is solely in Indochina, I can ditch the camping and cooking stuff and stick to two large panniers that will be about half full. I will also take a single rat-eaten front pannier that will remain empty until I toss fresh fruit and snacks in it.
I'm jumping on a bus to Sydney in 6 hours and I am confused. I have packed my things an seem to have very little - pretty much a few clothes, a few tools, a camera, first aid and stuff to read. That's what happens when you ditch the camping and cooking gear and aren't leaving home with a stack of food.
