Train to Hubblli then cycling!

My plan for coping with the Indian toilets on the overnight train was simple. Not to eat for the 24 hours before departure, or during the 15 hour train ride.  A bit drastic ….and a total over reaction as the train had both Indian snd Western toilets that were clean, and had grab handles bolted to the walls.

At Hubblli it took an hour for the bike to reach the Parcel Office.  There were some scales so I weighed the bike with luggage: 26kg with no water or food so my luggage in bags is about 12kg.  Which was useful as I could squeeze the rack and handlebar bag into the panniers and walk away from an empty bike.

I decided to start cycling and used RideWithGPS for navigation on my phone.  I have to use the audio prompts as with sunglasses and sun glare it is hard to read the phone screen.  It was not easy to follow the directions in Hubblli town and I instead used the sun to head SE away from the city and then let the GPS take over.

I was using a route plotted by RWGPS that avoided NH63 which I knew was a dual carriageway but unfortunately it routed me along a small track that got smaller and then ended in a stream crossing that looked too deep for comfort.

Too deep and muddy for me

The only way I could head Eastwards was to use NH63 and ride on the hard shoulder.  Which was OK as traffic was light and stayed away from me. I got to Annigen where I was told there was a Lodge.  The Lodge keeper seemed happy for me to stay, perhaps unofficially? and put me in a big room with the bike.  Now some officials have arrived and I have to move to another room.   Just hoping the promised food will arrive as running on empty!

Today's ride: 32 miles (51 km)
Total: 35 miles (56 km)
