Homeward
Everything came together in Mubai just fine - my bike box was dug out from wherever it had been stored, I put the bike in it and I had time to look around the City. There are now very few street dogs - but lots of cats and quite a few of the street stallholders had a cat sitting with them. The secondhand street book sellers have books piled up high yet this seller found me a copy of E.M. Foster’s Passage to India.

Back at the restaurant near the hotel, one last meal.
The taxi driver organised by the hotel quoted me a price to the airport and then on the ride wanted more money for the road tolls……but I had no more Rupees.
Security checks at Mumbai were stricter than at on the outward flight from Heathrow. At the airport I removed the wheels from my bike box - at Heathrow I had put them in my carry-on luggage with no problem but the Mumbai baggage people said that Security would probably confiscate the long alloy shaft. So I reopened the bike box and put them in there. I also put my tools in there but I left my pedals in the carry-on luggage. Once the bike box was resealed I had to throw away the remainder of the sticky brown tape as that was not allowed with me on the aircraft. The pedals just got through security after a bit of discussion.
Other than that all went smoothly but it was a shock going from 32C in Mumbai to 1C at Heathrow!
I would like to thank CycleBlaze for hosting my Journal. When on the road it is a great way to let people back home know how things are going and the site is much appreciated.
