Day 8 - Zero Day in Libby
We decided to stay 2 nights in Libby. The hotel was in close proximity to food and supplies, and we needed a little rest. After 7 days of riding we welcomed a day off. We had heard from a lady at the store that a fire up the road was causing evacuations. It had been pretty smokey and we needed an update, so Billy and I walked about a mile down the road to a Ranger Station. The Ranger at the station told us not to worry, the road from Libby to the border was open and the evacuations were else where. (tip: cross check info from locals) While in Libby we purchased food for the next 2 days, and we each bought Bear Spray. I mounted mine to my handle bar via a few zip ties. I'm more concerned about a random roadside encounter with a bear, than the typical campground encounter. Not sure how bears perceive a moving cyclist.
