To The Highest Point.

I was moving at 7. The weather was looking promising; light grey cloud shrouded the peaks of the mountains ahead. To the right was Trolladyngja and straight ahead Kristufjell: two mountains the track ahead passes between. After a couple of hours riding across wet sand and through glacier streams, I began climbing the slope of Trolladyngja. It was so good to ride and not pushing like yesterday's hell. The way twisted and turned around and across lava, completely rideable if slow.
Shortly after stopping for lunch by Kristafjell, I met two Landrovers traveling east. They stopped and got out; an Icelandic father and two sons. They asked me had I everything I needed and we talked for a while about the route. Before driving on they gave me two cans of Perrier water, which was very much appreciated and so refreshing a little later for a mid afternoon break.
By late afternoon I had reached the highest part on the route at 1400 metres. From here I could see most of the Highlands from east to west and after pausing to look around, the track descended steeply and before long levelled by a pond with greenery all around the shore. It was already 7 PM and the pond was a pleasant place to camp and end to a dream day.
