Day 11: Helloooo Iowa

"It's lovely to live on a raft. We had the sky up there, all speckled with stars, and we used to lay on our backs and look up at them, and discuss about whether they was made or only just happened."
- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain

Today was a day to set a gentle pace, roll south and enjoy the scenery. The temperature was perfect, I had a tail wind. What could be better?

So I guess there is not much to say, except that I ended in a new state, in Lansing, Iowa in a great campground.

Today I will let the pictures do the talking....

Huck Finn would have fit right in here. Here is a pic of one of the many barges moving down river, probably with tons of grain, maybe to your dinner table, though more likely destined for your Coke, or Pepsi

William EnyartAs high as these barges are riding they are probably empty and are being shuttled to a port to be filled.

After short but careful observation I have worked out that the people live on house boats but have little outhouses on land. Errrrr. Interesting?
