Route Plan and Map: City to City via the highlands, the coast and the Royal National Park
The general plan is to exit Canberra on the Federal Highway's excellent, wide shoulder until the Bungendore Rd turnoff is reached. From there, I'll head to Bungendore village, through to Tarago village and then backroads through the hamlet of Bungonia. Marulan town will be next and onwards to the beautiful NSW Central Highlands with towns like Bundanoon and Robertson before dropping sharply from the plateau (via Jamberoo) to seaside Kiama.
From Kiama it'll be north along the coast, hopefully mostly on bikeways, to and through the major city of Wollongong.
After Wollongong it'll be north through a series of coastal townships to Australia's oldest national park. Through the Royal National Park, the trail will be to harbour-side Bundeena and the ferry to Sydney's southern suburb of Cronulla.
Then onwards from Cronulla to the city and the Sydney Opera House.
There is an elevation advantage of approximately 640 metres in starting this ride in Canberra rather than Sydney.
Easy really!
