Day 9 - Canal Flats to Radium
Day 9 - Invermere (Radium by car)
Well, this morning started with a wake up to a flat tire. This was my second tire issue - one front and one back. (In both I found nothing causing it. Even had bike shops check.)
The challenge today, came when I installed a new tube....I couldn't get air to flow. I tried everything I knew as the clock ticked away.
I finally installed another tube and got the pump to work. (Oh, I replaced the inners of the pump too.)

Anyway, got on the road around 9 am. The wildfires smoke wasn't bad on the way to Invermere. I met another great person, who I owe many thanks. Tony, a recumbent biker today, met me on 93/95 when I stopped for water.
He volunteered to show me the way to Invermere using the Westside Legacy Trail and Westside Road.
The trail was amazingly beautiful. Paved through the tree and along the Westside Road, the trail combines flat riding with rollers and switch backs. Tony certainly knew the terrain and offered me encouragement on the "grunt sections."
Tony and I chatted about everything from family to health to growing old. He is 64 years young, so we could have been brothers. He is an avid mountain biker too. I appreciated Tony's company so much. I wish you the best Tony, you are a kind person and amazing cyclist!
The ride out of Canal Flats was very nice (before meeting Tony).
The sunrise and smoke mix gave the mountains a unique look. I did divert from 93/95 on a side road that offered views of the lake and many beautiful homes. I stopped for coffee at the Cozy Par. 3 Golf Course, a beautiful stop for sure.
Spending the night at the Orchard Hostel, Radium Hot Springs
Special thanks to Columbia Cycle Bike Shop - Justin and Will made me feel so welcome in Invermere. I appreciate you looking over my bike and getting me on the road. Will, thank you for the info on the hostel and the lift there!!! (Will offered to drive me to Radium. It worked out great because the wind and smoke came in heavy after lunch.)
