Left Eureka around 8:30 am, had breakfast with Andrew and his wife who were riding their Tandem on the Great Divide. Well, actual that was just part of their adventure. They road the Cascades and where headed to Yellow Stone.
Their bike broke coming into Eureka so they were coordinating a lift to Whitefish to make repairs. Anyway, really nice chatting with them. Safe travels guys.
The temps were a big part of the day. It was perfect when I turned on to 93 for the border, but drastically heated up as my trip continued.
The route left little shade to be enjoyed the entire way. But, the route was beautiful. The leg to my left turn onto Hwy 3 was surprisingly lonely. The shoulders were very clean and consistent; relatively flat too.

There was on dip in the road -a gorge - that took my mind for a spin when I saw it. Big downhill and huge uphill. (Bill says it was Elk River Gorge, thanks)
My picture didn't do it justice. When I was just at the bottom of the decent and crossing the narrow bridge a tractor trailer showed up behind me. Thank goodness he slowed down and waited for me to clear the road. A note to travelers, all of this route was light on services.
It was noon by the time I got to Hwy 3. I needed some fuel and there sat a small burger / Ice cream place on the corner. The made great burgers and milkshakes. Also, their porta-Jons were spotless!
Hwy 3 was much busier, but the shoulders were wide. Traffic was fast, but mostly respectful. I turned off that road onto a rural road that ran along a beautiful lake. I tried to stop and enjoy it, but it was so hot.

After riding the bigger roads all day this turn made me feel so relaxed. But it climbed and climbed, this rural did. Eventually it leveled out into a vista of a big mountain range that filled my right. I mean it was so beautiful, hard to capture with a phone.
I eventually saw a sign saying Nubury Lake Provincial Park, so I guess these views were part of that.
Well, after 18 miles of these rural views I arrived at Fort Steele RV Park. I got a cabin, enjoyed the pool and refueled. Let's see where I go tomorrow!
Today's ride: 68 miles (109 km)
Total: 231 miles (372 km)
