The route I took from Mission BC took me across the Fraser River and onto the Matsgui Trail.  The trail wasn't  flat like a rail trail.  The hard packed trail twisted and rolled a lot.  There were many short steep climbs too.  I had to push the bike on some of the steeper sections.

Looks flat here, but trust me....it rolls like a roller coaster

Well, the trail eventually  dropped me off onto some beautiful rural roads.  It felt like home in Pennsylvania.

The remaining route took me through Langley Township and Surrey; both had good bicycle infrastructure - marked bike lanes that made you feel safe.  Yes, there were challenging and busy sections inter mixed along the way, but ...

The GEM of the day was Colleens Cafe.  I found it when I was planning the route and had to stop.  The magic and coolness of the place greeted you upon entering.  I had the Monday special - french toast and bacon.  Oh, unlimited coffee with HONEY!

I eventually hooked up with the 12-mile Mud Bay Park Trail. That came right after a few miles of riding Hwy 10.

The trail is gravel, but easy to ride even with a loaded touring bike.  The trail hugs the bay and offers great views.  The Mud Bay Trail dropped me off into into a street lined with bay front homes and stores.

Point Roberts and the border crossing wasn't far down the road.  The border crossing was efficient and professional.

Point Roberts and the Lighthouse Marine Park has a lot of views and beaches to explore, so I'm staying two nights.
