Day 14 - Bus to Kamloops
Rider Express
Day 14 - Took the bus to Kamloops to avoid road closures and wildfire dangers.
First time wrapping the bike for a bus ride; went well - see pics below.
Met Jackie, a Banff local who rides the Rider Express frequently, she have me tips on the experience. Jackie said her son, who she is going to visit, lives a nomadic lifestyle! He just guided kayak trips in here and in India.
Jackie was a cool character; nice to meet you!

So made it safely to my destination that will put me back on route. The bus trip went through Glacier National Park of Canada. It was spectacular. I can't explain it other than to say I was always looking up. The view was pretty clear too.
The drive terrified me. The road would climb for miles, than drop many more - felt like forever.
I kept thinking could I have cycled that .... No is the answer. I saw one guy doing it.
I kept thinking, as I stared up, how much I missed by detouring. Could I have done it, climbed the Icefield Parkway. I think I lost 8 days of riding, maybe by detouring. I feel it in my mind.
But, the wildfires are real. There is one near here. Locals told me a fire threatened Golden which we stop in this morning. If the winds wouldn't have changed direction, the town would have been a concern.
I am heading (riding) to Merritt tomorrow - 57 miles.
Tonight I will be staying at the Motion Church in Kamloops. Pastor Joe welcomed me this afternoon after I called him out of the blue asking for an overnight. He didn't hesitate either.
He told me about my route and volunteered to drive me up the hill to start.
Thank you Pastor Joe for the overnight and morning "hill" lift & thank you to my PA Secretary and Wifey Tamora (for booking the bus for hubby)
Today's ride: 3 miles (5 km)
Total: 436 miles (702 km)
