Melincke Vinobrani
A two ferry day to get to Prague
They were just setting up when we arrived. When we emerged it was in full swing - it is the Melinke Vinbrani to celebrate the harvest. It has I believe serious wine tasting. There are three sound stages which we will be hearing to well after midnight

Then you can go through to the 'Party zone' which has the wildest rides I have ever seen - makes the Auckland Easter Show look very tame - excited kids everywhere

KEN WRITES
Last night the town of Melnick was home to an amazing fest with hundreds of people including those alarming fun machine, lots of places to buy beer and wine and at least three concert venues. We joined the locals and drank beer and listened to a couple of venues with very high class performances. It did however go on well into the night and as our hotel was in the square we got a good earful-I think it stopped at one
This morning we had a good breakfast at 8 and were waiting for the ferry at 9. This time we unloaded the bikes and it was all much easier particularly as Neil a German cycle tourist helped us.
Most of the trip from there was great the weather fine and not too hot.
Highlights were the ferry crossing at Luzec - the same as last time, the ferry held on a wire and propelled by the river current. We then went through a large potatoe growing area and photographed a well used 50year old Zetor attached to a large potatoe digger
We crossed the Vltava (Moldau) a couple more times, had a narrow unsealed track by the river and a stretch along the road. We were then along the river on a mostly good track but at times very close to the edge. We then reached the point where there is a choice - stay by the river and put up with rough cobbles and a very narrow track right beside the river - or take to the hills on a sealed road . Last time we took the low road and found it very hard. This time after a hot dog we took the high road which was very steep but rideable for me just.
From there it was on a great path past a party with three local fire engines on show one a Tatra. At the end however we followed the route in the Bikeline book and it was rough till we reached the centre with hoards of visitors on the riverside, From there up to town level more hoards. we pushed our way Wenceslas Square and soon after to this very nice hotel
Since a wash up we have been scouring the town for information and maps to see if getting out of Prague can be s easy as getting in. So far it doesn't look promising but we have 2 more days to sort it out
Today's ride: 61 km (38 miles)
Total: 1,466 km (910 miles)
