Day 19 Chester,IL to Farmington,Mo
New state welcome to Missouri hello Hills
It started raining last night when Kaye was showing us the sites, lots of thunder and lightning. It continued all night, we awoke to a steady rain and it was with us for most of the day. The destination for today was Farmington Missouri. But first order of business was crossing the Mississippi River it's a two-lane Bridge no shoulder, Kaye said just ride in the Lane, so that's what we did. The day started out pan flat, that changed fairly quickly ,within the first hour. The roads were very rolling. Almost 5 hours and bike for less than 50 miles. All the roads in Missouri are lettered instead of numbers kind of interesting. Farmington has a cyclist hostel called Al's place. It was Saint Francis County Jail. It was built in 1870 for $11,000 and was in used until 1996. It's run by the city for cross-country cycling community. They run it with donations it has beds, showers ,laundry ,small kitchen and a computer. The day was pretty much just riding just trying to get through the wet day.
