Other than some overzealous micromanaging that comes in response to my having been too trusting that the Temporary Replacement would do a job I knew she was capable of doing, I have been doing a great job of making sure my new assistant knows why I need an assistant.
I mean, sure, I did tell her during onboarding that one of her job responsibilities was going to be helping me get into my apartment when I locked myself out, I just didn't expect it to happen before she'd even spent 50 days working for me.
We are currently working on the presumption that my house keys are in my handlebar bag. Won't know for sure though until I get back to my bike.
As Shawn's daughter's kindergarten has rented a venue on the far east side of the city for the end-of-year talent show, she's not only about to drop her set of my keys off at Sarah's, she's also able to give me a ride back to Haidian Island.
I shower, ignore the dozens of chores that ought to be done in my apartment, throw my clothing in the washing machine, and head over to a nearby café where I've got an afternoon meeting with Yet Another Someone who thinks there might be ways we can work together that will monetize my social media in ways that make us both money.
By the end I think she's realized that we have plenty of collaboration possibilities, but—despite a growing fan base—my videos just aren't that monetizable and my best course of action is to keep on the current path of "stuff the government mostly likes" in combination with short videos being the foot in the door that gets me introductions to clients like the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Today's ride: 1 km (1 miles)
Total: 223 km (138 miles)
