The whole point of my being here, at the Hilton, is that I'm supposed to be taking video of all the cool things you can do if you choose to come here on a weekend staycation from Haikou.
As a result, the weather—which was occasionally nippy or windy while I was riding—has immediately turned from sunny blue sky to cold haze.
Marketing doesn't even bother applying for me to go to the water park or any of the nearby—all outdoor—entertainment facilities.

We talk briefly about the possibility of my seeing one of the entertainment projects related to Su Dongpo² but it never materializes either because he's too busy or because my disinterest³ means I don't bother pushing.
Instead, after a breakfast so big that I skip lunch, I spend the whole day in the hotel room editing videos, updating the journal, and even working.

¹ I probably† overheated when soaking in the bath last time I was here. In any case, I had the dizzies when I got out of the bath, which is how I discovered a total lack of textured or non-polished surfaces. Because I was wet from the tub, I would end up having to crawl into the bedroom before I could stand up.

† Blood tests, CT, and MRI don't show anything wrong with me
² A major statesman and poet from the Song Dynasty, he spent a few years exiled to Danzhou during a protracted argument with the emperor. Because he was someone who had "superstar" status among the literati during his lifetime, literally every place in China that has any connection to him is all about "what Su Dongpo did here."
³ Going alone to a large-scale Chinese musical drama is not my idea of fun.
⁴ Including both the disorganized but clean stuff I'd dumped out of my pannier and the stank grubbies that had been left on the floor
