We're down to the last three weeks of preparation. We've put a lot of time and effort into preparing, but it still feels like it will feel like a rush at the end. Some things  just have to wait until the end: making sure all the bills will get paid, boxing up the bike, downloading some audio books, etc.

And of course there's the matter of starting to get a handle on the current conditions, especially with respect to forest fires and smoke. Things can change quickly, but so far the route itself seems to be clear of any actual fires, but there are areas where it appears that there's a lot of smoke blowing by. Fires and smoke are high on the list of things that could potentially derail the trip, or require major changes.
