Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park

The ruins of Kamphaeng Phet

The Buddhist temples of Kamphaeng Phet were built between the 14th and 17th centuries. Kamphaeng Phet was contemporaneous with Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai and all three are protected under Unesco's World Heritage program.

Kamphaeng Phet comprises an enormous area mostly in a forest.  The forest with ruins here and there is quite mysterious and beautiful.

There is a moat and wall around one of the huge sites.

Ron SuchanekHey, do you want me to dig a moat around your house while you're gone? I won't do the digging myself but I'll find a couple of guys. Maybe offer them free lodging there while they're working .. it's a win-win.

Bruce LellmanTo Ron SuchanekNo thanks, Ron. All of my neighbors already wonder about me. A moat would sink whatever neighborliness still exists.

Jen RahnI'm trying to imagine the position you were in to get this shot.

I love this perspective!

The one on the right is a vine! It must be a minimum of 100 years old. I've never seen a vine that big.

It was hard to comply with this rule.

This is a several hundred year old outhouse complete with a groove for pee which I guess should not go down the hole?

Again, hard to comply.

Jen RahnYup.

This may be very close to the position you were in to get that 'looking up' photo.

Jen RahnOh, this makes me hope that you and Ron will do a ride together someday.

I'm pretty sure that "Inappropriate Moments" could be an entertaining thread through the experience.

Bruce LellmanTo Jen RahnWhen Ron and I do a ride together maybe the name of the journal should be Inappropriate Moments.

In some areas we encountered hundreds of school kids on an outing. They were great to interact with.

Bruce LellmanTo Mark LellmanI don't think this is their normal school uniform. It might be their P.E. uniform. Or maybe they have an outing uniform which obviously is easier to see and therefore safer when they are out and about. I'm just guessing though.
