The Lochside Trail: Thank goodness biking is not all whizzing traffic and noisy trucks
After we left Sidney on our training run, we headed for Victoria. The main road is highway 17, the Pat Bay Highway, and it's deadly.

Fortunately there is a lovely parallel bikeway called the Lochside Trail. This runs from the ferry terminal in Sidney to a junction with the equally super Galloping Goose trail in Victoria.
The northern part of the Lochside passes through farm land, while the southern section offers a look at well landscaped higher priced housing overlooking the water. Finally the trail passes through the Blenkinsopp wetlands on some small trellises.
I found myself grateful to the municipal governments with the insight to provide these trails. That is, until reaching the murderous highways they also condone!
