Marfa and Donald Judd
Minimalist artist Donald Judd in 1979 bought a former army base in Marfa for the permanent collection of large-scale artworks. He emphasized works in which the art and its surrounding landscape are inextricably linked. He died in 1994. The Chinati Foundation, a contemporary art museum based on his ideas, is located here. This photo is of the "dawn to dusk" work of Robert Irwin.
