Fifth Day of Riding
On a beautiful sunny day, with tailwinds from the west, we biked 70 miles from Yuma AZ to Dateland AZ. The first 25 miles were through Gila Valley fields of lettuce and other greens. Here's a photo of workers hoeing. (No machine for this work?) We're told that the workers generally are picked up at the Mexican border at 3 or 4 in the morning and bused to the fields by daybreak.
