At the hotel in El Paso, I'm rooming with David.  He's 63 years old, married, and lives in Cincinnati. Recently retired from his corporate tax manager position at a bank.  He's on this long bike ride because he was inspired 50 years ago by a friend who biked from Cincinnati to Los Angeles.  In December 2020, he and and a friend were riding together near home and both were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver and spent 4 months in back braces.  He and his wife have 2 sons: 1 in Cincinnati and 1 working as a pharmacist for the U.S. army in Germany.
