32nd Day of Riding
Today we had 93 miles of riding (the longest yet). We spent many hours in the saddle, but the ride was made easier by the flat roads and tailwinds.
Near the entrance to the bridge over the Atchafalaya River, Lori crashed when her front tire got caught in a pavement rut. She took a sag vehicle to the next sag stop, and another rider patched up her abrasions, but she finished the day's ride.
Here's a photo that Alan took of me around mile 85, before the John J. Audubon Bridge on which we crossed the mighty Mississippi River. Built in 2011, the bridge was designed with wide shoulders for bikes.
I'm wearing my brim for sun protection.
