20th Day of Riding
Today was the toughest riding day so far. We rode only 81 miles, but felt like 120 because the winds were so strong (18-20 miles per hour, gusting to 25) and in our face almost all day. Every flag I saw was completely horizontal. At times, I would pedal as hard as I could and could muster only 6-8 mph. About half of the riders took a sag vehicle for part of the route.
Here's a photo of the Pecos River we crossed. We had a sag stop in Lantry TX at the Judge Roy Bean Museum. In the late 1800s, Judge Roy Bean was said to be the only law west of the Pecos.
