Departure Eve
The usual last minute madness
Finally we're here, and finally there's nothing left to be done but try to get some sleep before our early morning ride to the airport. We feel ready - we've done as well as we ever do at training for a springtime tour, and we have packed for enough tours by now that we know the drill. Still though I find myself anxious, wondering what important detail I've forgotten this time or what unexpected mishap might lie on our path to Girona. Hope for the best.
The last week has been the normal madhouse, with both of us cramming a week's worth of work into our last few days at the office for a month. It's odd - we both are partly retired and just work halftime now, but somehow it is no easier to pry ourselves away from our jobs than it's ever been. It isn't quite what I'd expected. No worries though - I know that 48 hours from now we will be magically transported to a different world, and soon nothing will matter more than wondering how we'll handle the next hill or headwind, and what we'll find for dinner.
