Connellsville to Rockwood

More time on the GAP!

This is a great trail. It is not paved but well maintained crushed limestone. It's a comfortable ride through woods, small towns, and along the Youghiogheny (how do you say it? - pronounce the first two syllables like they rhyme with hockey - yockeygheny river. Mostly local they refer to it as the Yough (Yock). We rode beside it for two days.

These mile markers are our friends. We saw the first ones in Pittsburg at 143. This one is the ten mile marker on our ride on June 6. We started the day at mile marker 89.

These information signs are good. I don't stop at all of them, but am always glad when I do.

Ohiopyle State Park is huge. You can see how the Yough meanders through it and our Trail (in blue) stays right beside the river.

The lighting wasn't very good but I thought I should capture this interesting wind sock! The bike shop is next to and owned by the owner of the B&B where we stayed in Rockwood.
