Nemrut - Gaziantep, 1/X; 20th September

20th September

After breakfast at the BnB we headed down the hill and turned off in the direction of the ruins of Arsemia.

We found a turtle on the road on the way down

And put it on the verge. Safe from being crushed by a metal box on wheels for another day.

Ancient city of Arsemia

I believe this is the god Mithra, who would have been seen shaking hands with Antiochus

The propieter of the cafe suggested we camp there for a small fee -- the potential for a river swim by the bridge was tempting, but we decided to move on after lunch after this colleague tried to overcharge us for lunch.

There was some ups and downs for the rest of the day. Just outside the town of Adiyaman, there was another historical ruins of Pirin, which we visited a few hours before sundown.

Adiyaman

We found a resonable priced hotel and enjoyed dinner there. When we were negotiating our stay, the owner said if we were not satsified with the quantity of food, the dinner would be free. Thankfully dinner was plentiful and delicious.
